| The Campus 911 System is a state of the art communication system designed to work when you need it the most. |
The emergency notification unit is mounted on the wall of every classroom and/or room that is to be protected. An electrical outlet and telephone line must be in close proximity to the location of the emergency notification unit. Prior to installation, a message is recorded onto the emergency notification unit identifying the building and classroom where each unit is installed. |
| System activators are distributed to faculty and staff members. These activators come in the form of either a pendant or wristband, and can be worn or carried by the user. Because these activators are universal, all activators are able to activate all emergency notification units no matter what classroom a professor teaches in. |
When the unit is activated, a connection is made between the classroom and Campus Police/Security. The pre-recorded message plays twice so that dispatch can identify where the emergency call is being made from (the message identifies the classroom and building). Then, a two way audio connection is made so that the classroom and dispatch can communicate. |
